This summer, Play by Play Theatre Bookstore will transform 2441 Lyndale into THEATEROPOLIS - a jam-packed week-long celebration of Twin Cities Theatre. Meet local theatre artists. Get inside the process. Learn a new skill. Dust off your headshot. We'll be presenting a series of theatre-related workshops, activities, and special events including some of the top teachers and artists in the Twin Cities. Area Premiere coming to Park Square Theatre

Dead Man's Cell PhoneJoin us for a lively discussion about this wildly imaginative new comedy by playwright Sarah Ruhl, recipient of a MacArthur "Genius" Grant and Pulitzer Prize finalist for her play The Clean House.

Dead Man's Cell Phone is a work about how we memorialize the dead, and how that remembering changes us; it is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about morality, redemption, and the need to connect in a technologically obsessed world.

If you've ever been tempted to try voice-over work but don't know where to start, don't miss this free workshop. Answers to your questions from the author of "The Acting Biz: A Career Guide to the Twin Cities." Beth recorded her first VO demo in 1993 on reel to reel tape, and has been working steadily in voice-overs ever since. She has coached dozens of VO talent and evaluates new talent for a major local talent agency.

A Free Preview Workshop focusing on the ins and outs of producing live theatrical entertainment - whether it be a Fringe show, an entire season, or your once-in-a-lifetime-dream-production

Instructor Jeffrey Ortmann will guide you through the basics of production in this fast-paced preview of our upcoming Intensive Production Master Class.

Mr. Ortmann has produced and/or directed over 200 professional theatrical productions in New England and the Midwest. As the producing director of the acclaimed Wisdom Bridge Theatre, Chicago, Illinois the company garnered over 100 Joseph Jefferson Awards (Chicago’s equivalent of the Tony Award) for outstanding achievement. Mr. Ortmann is on the faculty in the Arts Management Department of Chicago’s Columbia College and teaches Producing Live Entertainment and Touring Live Entertainment at the graduate level and for senior undergraduates. He also was the head of the graduate program and the head of the directing program at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Mr. Ortmann is an experienced producer, director, educator and consultant.
